Open Call: Clancy Quay Studios/Superprojects Professional Development programme 2022/23

Superprojects and Clancy Quay Studios are pleased to announce an Open Call for participants to the 2022/23 Professional Development Programme for recent graduate artists. In 2022 the programme will collaborate with the National College of Art and Design and Munster Technological University Crawford School of Art and Design to deliver a full programme designed to teach recent graduates the skills necessary to navigate confident and successful careers as visual artists.
Now in its fourth year, this professional development series gives recent graduates from all fine art courses across the country the opportunity to access knowledge, training and feedback from Ireland’s leading experts in the visual arts, who will offer bi-weekly seminars, gallery and studio visits, mentoring and feedback sessions, with knowledge sharing and peer to peer collaborations encouraged. Themes of seminars include subjects such as time management, how to approach artists talks and presentations, studio visits and networking, how to write excellent applications, tax and finance for artists, documenting your work and more. Beginning in October 2022, the programme will include in person day long meetings, site and studio visits in both Dublin and Cork as well as a series of online seminars and in person and online one on one mentoring sessions.
As well as providing training and practical information, participants on the series will be given the opportunity to access one on one advice clinics with curators and arts professionals. At the end of the series, participants will have developed a strong peer network as well as increased knowledge and confidence in how to proceed and thrive in their careers as visual artists, bridging the gap between University and the professional world.
Superprojects is an organisation which works exclusively with children and young people, and with this in mind, we accept applications from artists who are at or below the age of 23 on 1st June 2022. 15 places will be awarded based on merit and need, following the receipt of the completed application form. This is programme is an initiative of Superprojects and the National College of Art and Design in partnership with MUT Crawford School of art and Design, kindly supported by the Arts Council. Clany Quay Studios is supported by Kennedy Wilson.
Criteria for acceptance
To be eligible to apply you must:
- Have graduated from a fine art degree from any Irish university in the year 2022.
- Be at or below the age of 23 years old by 1st June 2022
- Be able to demonstrate in your written answers how this opportunity would benefit your career development
Applicants will also be selected on the basis of the following criteria
- Dedication to their professional practice
- Ability to set professional goals
- Quality of work
- Willingness to engage with the community and commit to the full programme
How to Apply
The apply fill out the google online form indicated below by Monday 12 September 2022 at 5.30pm Friday September 16th at 6pm (Deadline extension). The form includes the following questions:
1. Date of birth
2. Please describe your current art, design or education practice. Discuss process, media, main artistic concerns and any recent or upcoming projects/exhibitions you have been part of (Max 500 words).
3. How do you feel this programme will benefit your practice as an artist? Mention some professional goals and key skills you hope to gain (Max 200 words).
4. Please submit 1 PDF file containing 5 images of your recent work with captions. (Max file size 10Mb)
5. Please confirm that you are available to participate fully in this programme; Bi-monthly, Tuesday evenings online 6-8pm from October 2022 to February 2023, to include 3 full days in Dublin/Cork on-site.

About Clancy Quay Studios
Clancy Quay Studios is an initiative of the National College of Art and Design (NCAD) Access programme. In partnership with Kennedy Wilson, the Clancy Quay Studios offers a one year studio residency to up to 5 recent graduates from NCAD. Since 2020, the Clancy Quay Studio Project has been partnering with Superprojects to deliver a Professional Development Programme, providing an innovative suite of entrepreneurial and professional development supports to the studio residency awardees at Clancy Quay, and a wider group of recent graduates from across the country.
